Save Shopping on Garden Supplies for Spring

February is half over and now is the time to think about how to save money shopping on garden supplies for spring.

I don’t know about you, but I am waaaaayyyy tired of winter and ready for the warmth of spring and summer to arrive. It was down in the 20’s here for over three weeks, and I have had it with the cold weather. So my thoughts are now turning to my garden and garden supplies I will need to spruce up my yard in the coming weeks.

I have mums and hydrangeas in my back yard, my dog likes to dig, so I might not add a lot in the back yard this year, but concentrate more on the front yard. My front yard has a ‘flower bed’ and I use that term loosely, that is filled with cactus – yuk. I have a friend that loves cactus and is planning to come dig it up for me. Then I can work on that area, where I have a heather plant I want to put in.

Are you looking to add decor to your yard? How about a bench by the tree, or a hammock under it! You could hang bells or gongs, or place whirligigs around. This place carries signs and plaques, even personalize your doormats! They carry gnomes, weather vanes, pots, planters and much more.

I found the most adorable ‘topiary frames’ at this site. They have the following animals covered with moss: turtle, frog, squirrel, rabbit, a walking cat, and in the dog category: cocker spaniel, doberman, labrador and a german shepherd. Well I have to admit, I just got lost on a site, looking for myself! LOL Gorgeous photos of all the flowers I love and some I don’t even recognize. You want to get lost looking at photos of flowers and imagining they are in your yard – this is a great link for that!

I had a little trouble finding the zone information -that is what tells you if the flowers you want to order will do well in your area – however, once I found it I have to say I like this updated version, which does not go by your state, but by your zip code. I happen to live in an area that dips into another zone. But once I found it, I knew what to look for as I checked out all the stunning photos.

Working in a florist shop, I do recognize a number of the flowers, but there were many varieties of each that I had not seen, as well as a number of flowers that are not used in our shop that I fell in love with. Unfortunately I have a budget to work with – oh well. On another note, they ship all of these through May for my zone so I can order some now and some later – smile.
