Saveshopping – Recession-Recession-Recession! – Christmas Savings Ideas

By saveshopping

This year with Obama going into office soon, (our first Black President) we are living history!

The Bush administration claiming we have been in a recession for the past year – oh gee – ya think! (What’s in YOUR wallet?)

And the Season of Giving – Christmas – is upon us.

Due to the economy being what it is, many are looking for different means of giving, or ways to save on their giving. Here are some different ideas:

1) Give to a charity in the name of the person you would normally purchase a gift for. There are many charities that are being hard hit due to the economy. Food banks especially are seeing that donations are down, yet with unemployment being what it is and raising daily, the need for the food banks has increased. Can you donate a bag of canned goods or a cash donation? Here is one in Sacramento, CA : www.seniorgleaners.org Senior Gleaners Inc serves approximately 300,000 people every month.

2) Donate your time to give to those in need. Most charities can accomodate volunteers showing up to help and can use the help. This is
a very rewarding gift to give!

3) Family that lives out of state. You can save money by shopping online and having it delivered by the store you purchase from! Why pay for shipping to you and then have to mail it to the family – just have it delivered. Here is a mall where you can save money year round, not just at Christmas: http://tinyurl.com/jktez

4) Give one gift to the entire family! Now this may seem odd, but one of my favorite stores in the mall at http://tinyurl.com/jktez is The Popcorn store! And one large tin from there can be a family gift, and delivered with a card if you like. I mean, doesn’t everyone love popcorn!

5) Make your own. It does not take a rocket scientist to figure out that hand made gifts are always favored over bought. Christmas is a time of giving, and giving of self is the ultimate gift. Can you sew? Think aprons or lap robes. Do you bake? Think candy! mmmm Are you good on the computer? Think about a coupon book (an oldie but goodie). To a husband: (sorry X rated LOL); to a Mom or Dad, cook dinner for Mom, rake the lawn for Dad… you get the idea. Look at what you are good at and use your talents to make your gifts.

Tis the season of giving… what will you give this year? Time… money… self…

Happy Holiday Savings!
